§ 2471. Division of Labor. There is in the Department of Commerce and Labor a Division of Labor to be headed by a Chief of Labor. Source: PL 1-8, tit. 1, ch. 9, § 4, modified; EO 94-3, § 301. Commission Comment: With respect to the references to the “Chief” of the Division of Labor and to the Department of Commerce and Labor, see Executive Order 94-3 (effective August 23, 1994), reorganizing the executive branch, changing agency names and official titles, and effecting other changes, set forth in the Commission comment to 1 CMC § 2001; see also the comment to 1 CMC § 2451. Specifically, Executive Order 94-3 created a Department of Labor and Immigration and transferred the then existing Division of Labor and the Division of Employment Services under the Department of Commerce and Labor, among other changes, to the newly created department. Subsequently, Executive Order 03-01 transferred immigration functions from the Department of Labor and Immigration to the Office of the Attorney General and renamed the Department of Labor and Immigration to the Department of Labor.
