Release

Release. (a) The evaluation or treatment facility shall release any person or refer him for further care and treatment on a voluntary basis upon the expiration of the court order of commitment entered under this article. (b) A mental health professional or attending physician shall unconditionally release any person committed under this article upon his determination that any of the criteria for commitment is no longer met. Notice of the release shall be given to the Attorney General’s office, the attorney for the committed person, and the director. The Attorney General’s office shall promptly notify the court of the release. Source: PL 8-36, § 16.
