§ 2594. Short Title. This article may be cited as the Taxicab Regulation Act of 1991. Source: PL 7-33, § 1. Commission Comment: PL 7-33 took effect July 31, 1991. According to PL 7-33, § 2: Section 2. Findings. The Legislature finds that tourism is an important industry to the Commonwealth, and that the quality of overland transportation of these visitors to and from their choice destinations should be first-rate. The Legislature finds it is necessary and beneficial to regulate the taxicab industry to provide safe, clean, and dependable transportation to the guests and residents of the Commonwealth. Executive Order 94-3, the “Second Reorganization Plan of 1994” (effective August 23, 1994), reorganized the Commonwealth government executive branch, changed agency names and official titles and effected numerous other revisions. According to Executive Order 94-3, § 302: Section 302. Department of Commerce. (a) Taxicab Bureau. The Taxicab Bureau is abolished and its functions transferred from the Department of Finance to the Department of Commerce.
