§ 28003. Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services: Commissioner, Resident Deputy Commissioners, Appointment; Funding and Compensation. The Department of Fire and EMS shall be administered by a qualified Commissioner of Fire and EMS who shall be appointed by and serve at the pleasure of the Governor with the advice and consent of the Senate. The Department of Fire and EMS in the islands of Rota and Tinian shall be administered by a qualified Resident Deputy Commissioner who shall be appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the Municipal Council members from those respective islands. The compensation for the Commissioner of Fire and EMS shall receive no less than and not exceed a base salary of $54,000 per annum. The compensation for the Resident Deputy Commissioner for the islands of Rota and Tinian shall not exceed a base salary of $42,000 per annum. The Commissioner is the chief executive officer of the Department of Fire and EMS with respect to the administration, operation, and enforcement of the all provisions of this Chapter.
