§ 2866. Self-Determination by a Patient. (a) A qualified patient may make decisions regarding life sustaining treatment, including whether to stay in the hospital or healthcare facility, as long as the patient is able to do so. (b) This chapter does not affect the responsibility of the attending physician or other health care provider to provide treatment for a patient's comfort, care or alleviation of pain.
