Short Title

Short Title. This division may be cited as the Northern Mariana Islands Social Security Act. Source: DL 5-12, § 1. Commission Comment: DL 5-12 took effect April 13, 1977. Prior to April 1, 1976, the Trust Territory Social Security Act (73 TTC §§ 1-205) applied within the Northern Mariana Islands. That act, subsequently amended by DL 4204, DL 4-233, DL 4-234, DL 4-235 and DL 4-236, was implicitly repealed by DL 5-12. In the original Commonwealth Code, 3 CMC §§ 3001-3006 were not codified within a chapter; instead, they were grouped under a “General Provisions” heading preceding former chapter 1 of this division (3 CMC § 3101 et seq.). In the January 1997 revision, the Commission split this division into two parts (“General Provisions” and “Management”) and designated 3 CMC §§ 30013006 as the first (and only) chapter of the first part (“General Provisions”).
