TITLE 10: LOCAL LAWS DIVISION 3: THIRD SENATORIAL DISTRICT (SAIPAN, ETC,)

§ 3153. Master Street Map Adoption. The street names for the island of Saipan shall be as shown on the master map. A copy of the master map is attached to this bill as Exhibit A and incorporated herein by this reference, with the following amendments: Name on Master Map Name to be Used Sunset Drive Beach Road Magellan Drive Robat Drive Entrance of Post Office (Doctor) Tun Segundo St. Chalan Joaquin Doi Chalan Tun Joaquin Doi Chalan Thomas P. Sablan Chalan Tun Tomas P. Sablan Chalan Antonio Apa Chalan Tun Antonio Apa Chalan Herman Pan Chalan Tun Herman Pan Any streets which were previously named differently from what appears on the master map, as above amended, are hereby expressly repealed and replaced by those names on the master map, as above amended. Provided, however, the Mayor of Saipan shall have 90 days from the effective date of this article within which to address requests from the public regarding changing the names of specific roads and reporting recommended amendments to the delegation for final adoption. In order to insure that any affected party has adequate opportunity to present its position, the Mayor of Saipan shall, within 10 days of the effective date of this article, publish a notice in a newspaper of general circulation that the master map has been completed and that any person may request changes to any specific names contained thereon to the Mayor of Saipan. Said notice shall be published for a period of seven days and shall instruct the public as to where to view the master map, where to file a request for the name change for any particular street, the deadline for submittal of such request to the Mayor of Saipan and that failure to make a request by said deadline shall result in the final adoption of a street name as shown on the master map. No later than 90 days after the effective date of this article, the Mayor of Saipan shall submit a final report to the delegation regarding the requests received. Said report shall also contain the commission’s final recommendation for any amendments to the names of streets for final adoption by the delegation. Should no recommendation be contained in the report from the Mayor of Saipan at the end of the 90 days period, the names shown on the master map shall become final and may only be amended biannually by the Mayor of Saipan to include newly created or discovered streets. Any streets on Saipan which are not on the master map shall be promptly identified whenever discovered or created by the Mayor of Saipan and referred to the Mayor of Saipan for naming.
