§ 4212. Establishment. A Land Commission is established as an independent agency of the Commonwealth government. Source: PL 3-79, § 2. Commission Comment: Executive Order 94-3, the “Second Reorganization Plan of 1994” (effective August 23, 1994), reorganized the Commonwealth government executive branch, changed agency names and official titles and effected numerous other revisions. According to Executive Order 94-3, § 306(b) [VACATED by PL 10-57, § 4]: Section 306. Department of Lands and Natural Resources. [VACATED by PL 10-57, § 4] .... (b) Land Commission. The Land Commission is abolished and its functions transferred to a Division of Land Registration in the Department of Lands and Natural Resources, which shall have at its head the Senior Land Commissioner who is re-designated as the Director of Land Registration and who shall report to and serve under the direction of the Secretary of Lands and Natural Resources. The Deputy Land Commissioners are re-designated as Deputy Directors of Land Registration. The full text of Executive Order 94-3 is set forth in the Commission comment to 1 CMC § 2001.
