TITLE 3: HUMAN RESOURCES DIVISION 4: EMPLOYMENT AND REGISTRATION

§ 4934. Orientation. (a) Within one week of arrival in the Commonwealth each foreign national worker shall attend an orientation at the Department or other location as designated by the Secretary. The orientation shall cover the rights and obligations of employers, agents of employers, and foreign national workers and such other information as the Secretary deems useful in avoiding potential labor disputes. Orientations shall be conducted on normal business days by employees of the Department. (b) Identification cards issued pursuant to 3 CMC § 4925 shall be delivered to the foreign national worker at the orientation session. The foreign national worker shall acknowledge receipt of the identification card and attendance at the orientation. (c) Any employer of a foreign national worker or a representative may attend an orientation session at any time. (d) The Secretary may cancel an orientation session due to lack of demand. Commission Comment: The Commission deleted figures that repeated written words pursuant to 1 CMC § 3806(e). *PL 17-1 (enacted on March 22, 2010) contained the following effective date provision: Section 12. Effective date. This Act shall take effect upon its approval by the Governor or becoming law without such approval and shall be retroactive to November 28, 2009 except as otherwise specifically provided herein.
