§ 5522. Food Stamp Program. As authorized by PL 1-28, the state agency shall implement a food stamp program in the Commonwealth in accordance with the provisions of the federal Food Stamp Act of 1977 [7 U.S.C. § 2011 et seq.]. The state agency shall: (a) Adopt rules and regulations necessary to carry out the food stamp program which shall have the effect of law; (b) Cooperate with the federal government and do all things necessary to continue the Commonwealth’s eligibility under the food stamp program; and (c) Take into account in the performance of its duties and in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Agriculture the local circumstances and conditions of the Commonwealth.
