§ 5610. Introductory Dive Experience. (a) Any course of instruction which is designed to introduce a noncertified diver to scuba diving, and which combines both instruction and one or more scuba dives, but does not result in the issuance of a basic scuba diving certificate, shall be referred to as an “introductory dive experience.” Any entry scuba experience, resort course, or taiken diving shall be considered an introductory dive experience. (b) An introductory dive experience shall be taught by, and the first scuba dive made by the student shall be conducted by, a person who has qualified as a scuba diving instructor under 3 CMC § 5605(b). The second and subsequent scuba dive within a 10 day period may be conducted by a person qualified as a tour leader under 3 CMC § 5605(b), except where the standards of the tour leader’s certifying organization do not permit such a level of certification to guide introductory dive students underwater.
