Protection of Abused: Investigation. If a child is taken into custody, the Division of Youth Services shall immediately commence a child protective investigation to determine if it is necessary to make the child a ward of the court. The Division of Youth Services shall recommend to the Office of the Attorney General within 24 hours of initiation of protective custody whether it is necessary to make the child a ward of the court.
