§ 6344. Nominations: Mayor. (a) Candidates for mayor shall be nominated by petition designating the person seeking nomination and the office sought, containing the signatures, printed names, residences, and mailing addresses of a number of registered voters of that municipality equal to at least five percent or one hundred (100), whichever is less, of the registered voters within that municipality. Each petition shall be accompanied by the signature of the person nominated, which shall constitute the nominee’s assent to be a candidate. (b) The procedures and requirements for political party nomination and for independent nomination for Governor or Lieutenant Governor set forth in Articles 2 and 3 of this chapter shall apply with respect to the nomination of candidates for mayorship, as consistent with this section, except that the filing fee shall be two-hundred-fifty dollars ($250.00) paid by the political party or independent candidate.
