§ 7146. Earthquake Design Requirements. At a minimum, every building or structure and every portion thereof to which this code applies and construction of which begins after February 2, 1990, shall be designed and constructed to adequately resist earthquake forces as defined and set forth in the Uniform Building Code, or, in the case of single family homes and duplexes, as defined and set forth in the CABO Code. For purposes of earthquake design requirements, the Northern Mariana Islands are declared to be in Seismic Zone 3. Source: PL 6-45, § 1 (§ 7146).
