§ 8244. Compensation of Certain Elected Officials. (a) The Governor shall receive an annual salary of $120,000 and the Lieutenant Governor an annual salary of $100,000. (b) The mayors of an island or a group of islands shall receive an annual salary of $75,000. Commission Comment: The salary increase specified in PL 7-31, § 3 for the Governor, Lieutenant Governor and Representative took effect January 10, 1994, and the salary increase for the mayors took effect January 10, 1992. The Governor, Lieutenant Governor, and mayors’ salaries have increased as follows: PL 4-32 § 3 (effective January 13, 1986): Governor, $50,000, Lieutenant Governor, $40,000, mayors, $21,000; PL 6-23, § 7 (effective April 20, 1989): mayors, $36,000. In codifying PL 19-83, the Commission struck “.00” after dollar amounts in (a)–(b) pursuant to 1 CMC § 3806(g).
