§ 8482. Social Security. (a) Unless specifically exempted by applicable federal law, every Commonwealth official or employee shall become a mandatory member of the federal insurance system commonly referred to as “Social Security” upon the extension of said “Social Security system” to officers and employees of the Commonwealth government. (b) If authorized by federal law, an employee who elects to buy back quarters of service in to the Social Security system will be required to pay the required premiums.
