§ 8517. Penalty for Willful Violation of Disclosure Requirements. (a) A person required to file a report of financial interests who refuses or knowingly fails to disclose required information within the time required, or who provides false or misleading information, knowing it to be false or misleading, is guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction is punishable by a fine of not less than $500 nor more than $1,000, or by imprisonment for a period of not more than six months, or by both. (b) Any nominated, hired, or appointed official, commissioner, chairman or member of a commission or board who fails or refuses to comply with the requirements of this chapter, in addition to the penalties prescribed, shall not be confirmed by the legislature if compliance has not been made.
