§ 9172. Time Limit. (a) The following rights of action are subject to a one year prescription: claims arising out of the shipping articles. (b) The following rights of action are subject to a two year prescription: (1) The right of action for death of a seaman caused by wrongful act, neglect or default on the high seas; (2) Claims of the shipowner against the master for acts committed during the performance of his duties; and (3) All other tort claims; (c) All other claims are subject to a three year prescription. (d) The period of prescription of the claims laid down in the preceding subdivisions runs from the time when the right of action accrues. Source: 19 TTC § 231.
