SDCL § 49-31-28

For the purposes of §§ 49-31-29 and 49-31-30 the following terms have the meanings ascribed to them as follows: (1) "Party line" means a subscribers' line telephone circuit, consisting of two or more main telephone stations connected therewith, each station with a distinctive ring or telephone number; (2) "Emergency" means a situation in which property or human life are in jeopardy, and the prompt summoning of aid is essential.
