Bonds — Expiration of licenses — Fees

(a) No person shall be required to post a bond, provide a financial statement or provide a letter of reference in order to obtain a license as a limited licensed electrician.

(b) All limited licensed electrician licenses shall expire biennially on the month of their issuance.

(c) The board shall prescribe fees for the issuance and renewal of licenses of limited licensed electricians.

(d) In no event shall the fee for an initial limited licensed electrician license exceed seventy-five dollars ($75.00) per year nor shall the fee for a renewal of the license exceed fifty dollars ($50.00) per year.

(e) Effective July 1, 2026, all funds held by the state treasurer in the limited licensed electricians fund must be deposited in the fund for the state board for licensing contractors pursuant to § 56-1-310(a), to be used for any lawful purpose of the board, and the separate limited licensed electricians fund no longer exists upon such transfer of funds. All fees, penalties, and any other payments received regarding limited licensed electricians must be deposited in the fund for the board and may be used for any lawful purpose of the board.
