A board member appointed pursuant to this chapter is not an employee of the home municipality and is not entitled to compensation for service as a board member. However, this section does not prohibit or otherwise limit a utility board or other appropriate entity from choosing to provide compensation to a board member appointed pursuant to this chapter.
