Sec. 401.082. TERM OF SERVICE AS GOVERNOR. The individual who receives the highest number of votes cast by the members of the legislature for governor shall hold that office until the next general election. Added by Acts 1993, 73rd Leg., ch. 268, Sec. 15, eff. Sept. 1, 1993.
