Preservation of Evidence

Art. 49A.074. PRESERVATION OF EVIDENCE. A justice of the peace shall: (1) preserve all tangible evidence that the justice obtains in the course of an inquest that tends to identify the person who caused the death that is the subject of the inquest or show the actual cause of death; and (2) deposit the evidence described by Subdivision (1) with the appropriate law enforcement agency to be stored in the agency's property room for safekeeping.
