Art. 49A.122. FEES. (a) Subject to Subsections (b) and (c), a medical examiner may charge reasonable fees for services provided by the medical examiner's office under this subchapter and Article 49A.251, including cremation approvals, court testimonies, consultations, and depositions. (b) The commissioners court must approve the amount of the fee described by Subsection (a) before the fee may be assessed. The fee may not exceed the amount necessary to provide the services described by that subsection. (c) The fee described by Subsection (a) may not be assessed against the county's district attorney or a county office. Added by Acts 2025, 89th Leg., R.S., Ch. 202 (H.B. 1610), Sec. 1.01, eff.
