Purposes of District

Sec. 57.091. PURPOSES OF DISTRICT. A district may be created for the following purposes: (1) to construct and maintain levees and other improvements on, along, and contiguous to rivers, creeks, and streams; (2) to reclaim lands from overflow from these streams; (3) to control and distribute the waters of rivers and streams by straightening and otherwise improving them; and (4) to provide for the proper drainage and other improvement of the reclaimed land.
