Use of Physical Restraint

Sec. 576.024. USE OF PHYSICAL RESTRAINT. (a) A physical restraint may not be applied to a patient unless a physician prescribes the restraint. (b) A physical restraint shall be removed as soon as possible. (c) Each use of a physical restraint and the reason for the use shall be made a part of the patient's clinical record. The physician who prescribed the restraint shall sign the record. Added by Acts 1991, 72nd Leg., ch. 76, Sec. 1, eff. Sept. 1, 1991.
