False Statements; Criminal Penalty

Sec. 885.701. FALSE STATEMENTS; CRIMINAL PENALTY. (a) A person commits an offense if the person wilfully makes a false or fraudulent statement or representation: (1) in or with reference to an application for membership in a fraternal benefit society authorized to engage in business in this state; or (2) for the purpose of obtaining money from or benefits in a fraternal benefit society transacting business under this chapter. (b) An offense under this section is a misdemeanor punishable by: (1) a fine of not less than $100 or more than $500; (2) confinement in jail for not less than 30 days or more than one year; or (3) both the fine and confinement.
