Sec. 143.002. INDEPENDENT CANDIDACY REQUIRED. Except as provided by Section 143.003, a candidate's name may appear on the ballot only as an independent. Acts 1985, 69th Leg., ch. 211, Sec. 1, eff. Jan. 1, 1986.
