Sec. 22.006. DATE ON WHICH OFFICERS BEGIN TO PERFORM DUTIES. A newly elected municipal officer may exercise the duties of office beginning on the fifth day after the date of the election, excluding Sundays. Acts 1987, 70th Leg., ch. 149, Sec. 1, eff. Sept. 1, 1987.
