41-1a-230.7. Registration checkoff for supporting emergency medical services and search and rescue operations.
(1) A person who applies for a motor vehicle registration or registration renewal may designate a voluntary contribution of $3 for the purpose of supporting: the Emergency Medical Services Grant Program; and the Search and Rescue Financial Assistance Program.
(2) This contribution shall be: collected by the division; treated as a voluntary contribution and not as a motor vehicle or off-highway vehicle registration fee; and distributed equally to the Emergency Medical Services System Account created in Sectionand the Search and Rescue Financial Assistance Program created in Sectionat least monthly, less actual administrative costs associated with collecting and transferring the contributions. 53-2d-108 53-2a-1102
(3) In addition to the administrative costs deducted under Subsection, the division may deduct the first $1,000 collected to cover costs incurred to change the registration form. (2)(c)
