53-5a-108. Individuals who are exempt from certain weapons laws.
(1) Except as provided in Subsectionsand (3), this part, Part 3, Concealed Firearm Permits, and Title 76, Chapter 11, Weapons, do not apply to any of the following: (2) a United States marshal; a federal official required to carry a firearm; a peace officer of any jurisdiction; a law enforcement official with a certificate issued under Section; 53-5a-311(4) a judge with a certificate issued under Section; 53-5a-311(4) a court commissioner with a certificate issued under Section; or 53-5a-311(4) a common carrier while engaged in the regular and ordinary transport of firearms as merchandise.

(3) Notwithstanding Subsection, the provisions of Sectionapply to any individual listed in Subsectionwho is not employed by a state or federal agency or political subdivision that has adopted a policy or rule regarding the use of dangerous weapons. (1) 76-11-217 (1)
