75E-10-103. Executive director -- Qualifications -- Staff.
(1) The commission: shall appoint the executive director, by a majority vote of the commission, to carry out the duties of the office described in Section; and 75E-10-202 may remove the executive director by majority vote of the commission.
(2) The executive director shall be an active member of the Utah State Bar with an appropriate background and experience to serve as the full-time executive director.
(3) The executive director shall hire staff as necessary to carry out the duties of the office as described in Section, including: 75E-10-202 one individual who is an active member of the Utah State Bar to serve as a full-time assistant director; and one individual with data collection and analysis skills.
(4) When appointing the executive director of the office under Subsection, the commission shall give preference to an individual with experience in adult criminal defense, representing parents in child welfare cases, or in juvenile delinquency defense. (1)
(5) When hiring the assistant director, the executive director shall give preference to an individual with experience in adult criminal defense, representing parents in child welfare cases, or in juvenile delinquency defense.
