(1) The select committee on pension policy shall study the administration of pension boards and medical benefit liabilities of the law enforcement officers' and firefighters' retirement system plan 1.(2) The study must evaluate options for the state to assume responsibility of pension board administration and for the associated financial liabilities. In reviewing pension board administration, the select committee on pension policy shall consider which state agency or agencies could assume administrative duties of the pension boards.(3) The department of retirement systems, department of labor and industries, the health care authority, and the office of the state actuary shall provide assistance to the select committee on pension policy as requested.(4) The select committee on pension policy shall submit a report of its findings and recommendations to the fiscal committees of the legislature by December 31, 2028.[ 2026 c 261 s 111.]
