Determination of detectable fetal heartbeat (a) Except in the case of a medical emergency, no person shall perform, induce, attempt to perform or attempt to induce a termination of a pregnancy unless the person has first made a determination of whether the unborn child has a detectable fetal heartbeat. (b) The determination of whether an unborn child has a detectable fetal heartbeat shall be made using standard medical practices and techniques, including ultrasound measurement if necessary.
