Civil recovery for criminal act; conviction as evidence in civil suit. (a) Nothing in this act prevents a party whose person or property is injured by a criminal act from recovering full damages. (b) No record of a conviction, unless it was obtained by confession in open court, shall be used as evidence in an action brought to recover damages.
