  Advanced Drainage Systems (ADS) was founded in 1966 in Columbus, Ohio as a manufacturer of corrugated polyethylene pipe for agricultural field drainage — replacing the centuries-old practice of burying clay tile drain pipes in farm fields to drain excess water from crop root zones. ADS's original product was 4" corrugated polyethylene drainage tubing that could be installed with a plow instead of a trenching machine, dramatically reducing the labor cost of agricultural tile drainage. Over 50 years, ADS expanded from farm drainage to highway culverts, stormwater management, and municipal drainage infrastructure. By 2023, ADS reported ~$3 billion in revenue and 65+ US manufacturing plants.
