Most of the port-software conversation is about terminals, but CyberLogitec — born as the IT arm of a Korean shipping line (HMM/Hyundai Merchant Marine) — makes the software for the other side of the move too: the carrier-side systems that ocean shipping lines themselves run on, handling vessel and voyage operations, container stowage planning, bookings, documentation and equipment control. So the digital layer of container trade extends well beyond the terminal into the shipping lines' own operations, and that carrier-software market is likewise concentrated in a few specialist vendors. A disruption isn't only a terminal risk — the systems that let a carrier plan a voyage, load a ship and document the cargo are an equally critical, equally concentrated software dependency, with CyberLogitec a leader on the Asian side.

Across the four vendors mapped here — Navis, TBA, Tideworks and CyberLogitec — a pattern emerges: the operational software of the entire container supply chain, from a shipping line's voyage planning through the marine terminal to the inland intermodal ramp, is supplied by a small set of specialist firms, split partly along regional lines (CyberLogitec strong in Asia, Navis/Tideworks in the Americas, TBA in automation). Each terminal or carrier is effectively locked to its chosen system by the cost and risk of migration. The container economy's physical chokepoints (canals, straits, ports) are well known; its software chokepoints — a handful of operating-system vendors that every box implicitly passes through — are not, yet they are just as concentrated.
