North Brabant

Hendrix Genetics' global headquarters and primary great-grandparent (GGP) layer flock facility in Boxmeer, North Brabant, Netherlands. This is the central node for ISA, Bovans, Hisex, and Dekalb breed development and GGP flock maintenance. Boxmeer hosts quantitative genetics and genomic selection research teams. A biosecurity breach or HPAI event at this facility could compromise multiple ISA Brown bloodlines simultaneously — requiring recovery from frozen semen and embryo banks with multi-year timeline implications. The Netherlands' dense poultry production region (North Brabant is one of Europe's most intensive livestock zones) creates elevated ambient biosecurity risk despite facility protocols.

Ontario

Hendrix Genetics' North American multiplier hatchery for Shaver (Canadian-origin breed, brown egg) and Babcock (white egg breed, originally from Ithaca NY but now managed from Ontario) grandparent and parent stock. This facility supplies US and Canadian commercial layer operations and serves as geographic redundancy for North American layer genetics supply. Canada's strong biosecurity protocols and lower HPAI outbreak density vs. the US Midwest make this facility a lower-risk backup for North American GGP stock. The Shaver breed was developed by Shaver Poultry Breeding Farms (Cambridge, Ontario) and acquired by Hendrix Genetics.

Brittany

The historic ISA breeding station in Brittany, France — the birthplace of the ISA Brown breed (developed 1978 by French state-backed breeding program). Now operated by Hendrix Genetics. This facility maintains ISA Brown grandparent stock and serves as a European backup GGP location. The ISA Brown line was developed here by selecting for high egg production in brown-egg Rhode Island Red x Rhode Island White crosses. This facility's historical significance: it produced the breed that now accounts for the majority of brown eggs in North America, Europe, and many Asian markets. The ISA program was originally funded by the French Ministry of Agriculture as a strategic agricultural competitiveness initiative — it is now owned by a private Dutch company.
