Did you know2024
ProAmpac produces flexible packaging for three industries whose regulatory requirements differ dramatically: (1) food — butter wraps and dairy packaging (FDA food contact regulations, specific barrier requirements to protect dairy fat from light and oxygen oxidation); (2) healthcare — sterile medical device pouches and pharmaceutical packaging (FDA 510(k) device packaging requirements, ISO 11607 sterile barrier standards); and (3) pet food — premium pet food pouches (AAFCO nutritional requirements, ASTM moisture vapor transmission specs). The same ProAmpac converting facility operating lamination and printing equipment can switch between dairy butter wrap and sterile medical device packaging, serving supply chains whose end users (butter consumers, surgery patients, pet owners) would never recognize they share a packaging manufacturer. The Pritzker family's PE roll-up of regional packaging converters created a company simultaneously critical to dairy food safety, medical device sterility, and companion animal nutrition.
ProAmpac ↗Origin2023
ProAmpac was created through a private equity roll-up strategy by Pritzker Private Capital (the Chicago-based PE firm of the Pritzker family — the same family behind Hyatt Hotels and Illinois governor J.B. Pritzker). Beginning with a core acquisition, Pritzker systematically acquired regional flexible packaging converters across North America, integrating them under the ProAmpac brand and shared operational infrastructure. Roll-up strategies in flexible packaging create scale advantages in raw material purchasing (film, foil, paper) and printing capability while preserving customer relationships from regional converter heritage. ProAmpac's 2025 butter wrap expansion reflects the dairy packaging market's growing demand for US-manufactured foil-laminate butter wraps as retailers seek domestic sourcing for dairy packaging.
