Automotive LiDAR is, at the volume end, essentially a two-Chinese-company market: Hesai and RoboSense together supply a dominant share of the LiDAR designed into the world's — and especially China's — LiDAR-equipped vehicles. So the autonomous-driving perception-hardware tier isn't merely China-concentrated, it is concentrated in a duopoly of two firms. As LiDAR spreads from premium to mass-market EVs, that duopoly's reach grows, and the entire automotive-LiDAR supply rests on two competitors in one country. For any automaker building LiDAR-based driver assistance, that is a stark concentration with obvious geopolitical and supply-resilience implications — the sensor that lets a car see is sourced from a market with, effectively, two suppliers and one home jurisdiction.

RoboSense is also pushing its perception technology into humanoid and general-purpose robots — applying automotive-grade LiDAR and sensor suites to give robots 3D perception. So an automotive-LiDAR maker is repositioning as a perception supplier for the humanoid-robot wave, echoing how Sanhua (a refrigeration-valve maker) moved into robot actuators. The same Chinese sensor base that gives cars eyes is being aimed at giving robots eyes — meaning the perception layer of both autonomous vehicles and humanoid robots may come to rest on a common, China-concentrated supplier set. The "eyes" of the coming machines, across cars and robots alike, increasingly trace back to a handful of Chinese LiDAR firms — a single sensing chokepoint underneath two of the most hyped frontiers of automation at once.
