Sateri belongs to Sukanto Tanoto's RGE (Royal Golden Eagle) group, which is vertically integrated upstream: sister company Bracell is the world's largest dissolving-pulp producer (the feedstock for viscose, including a 1.5M t/yr Brazil 'flex' mill) and APRIL is a major pulp/paper arm — both repeatedly scrutinized over Indonesian and Bornean deforestation and peatland drainage. Investigations (AidEnvironment, Greenpeace) found RGE's China viscose mill sourcing wood linked to cleared Kalimantan rainforest.
