SICC Co., Ltd. (Shandong Province China; also known as Shandong Tianyue Advanced Materials Technology Co.; SZSE: 688309) is China's #2 SiC substrate manufacturer; ~12-15% global market share. SICC (Silicon Carbide Crystal) was founded 2012 and has rapidly scaled 6-inch SiC substrate production to serve Chinese power electronics customers (BYD, CATL, Huawei power electronics). SICC benefits from provincial Shandong government industrial support and from domestic Chinese EV market demand for SiC power modules. Like TanKeBlue, SICC has contributed to global SiC substrate price compression as Chinese capacity has expanded faster than global demand.

SICC (Shandong) is deeply embedded in two Chinese strategic industry priorities simultaneously: (1) EV/NEV supply chain — SICC supplies n-type SiC substrates to Chinese power device makers serving BYD and CATL for EV drive inverters and onboard chargers; and (2) 5G telecommunications infrastructure — SICC's semi-insulating SiC is the substrate for GaN-on-SiC power amplifiers in Huawei's 5G base stations. Huawei's 5G rollout and China's EV adoption are both Chinese government priority industries. SICC's customer base spans both, making it simultaneously a critical supplier to China's telecommunications and electric vehicle supply chains. Both Huawei and Chinese EV makers face US export restrictions and technology access restrictions — and both depend on SICC's SiC substrates as a domestically controlled material that would not be subject to US export controls. SICC's position as a domestic supplier serves the supply chain security objective for both China's most politically sensitive technology industries.

SICC Co., Ltd. (Shandong Tianyue) was founded in 2012 in Shandong Province — a decade after China's semiconductor wafer industry had identified SiC as a strategic material priority. The founding followed China's identification of SiC as a key strategic material in the 12th Five-Year Plan (2011-2015). Shandong Province (home to major chemical and materials industries) provided industrial park support and preferential land and utility pricing for SICC's crystal growth facilities. Unlike TanKeBlue (which traced from CAS academic research), SICC was founded with a more explicitly commercial orientation, targeting Chinese domestic power electronics customers from inception. SICC's 2021 STAR Market IPO raised capital for 6-inch capacity expansion at a moment when global SiC substrate demand was surging due to EV adoption — enabling SICC to grow market share rapidly during the SiC capacity constraint period (2021-2023).
