This feature was designed to address GNSS (GPS/Galileo/GLONASS) jamming and spoofing attacks that disrupt cellular network timing. Russia has conducted systematic GPS jamming in Finland, the Baltic states, and Ukraine; China has conducted GPS spoofing in the South China Sea. 5G networks require sub-microsecond timing synchronization for beamforming and ultra-low-latency features — this timing typically comes from GPS-disciplined OCXOs in base station timing cards. When GPS is jammed, networks lose synchronization and 5G features degrade to 4G performance. TXC's TimeLock holdover capability is explicitly a defense against state-level electronic warfare GPS denial.
