European ethyl mercaptan production hub; expanded 65% in 2017 (construction started Nov 2016, operations started May 2017). Tessenderlo, Belgium is a chemicals manufacturing town in Flemish Brabant. Products: ethyl mercaptan, methyl mercaptan, DMDS — serving European gas odorization (both LPG/propane and natural gas), agricultural chemical synthesis, and specialty organic sulfur markets. This expansion positioned Chevron Phillips as a stronger competitor to Arkema's European Lacq (France) operations.
