DOWA's Kosaka Smelting & Refining Co., Ltd. in Kosaka, Akita Prefecture — the historic heart of DOWA's mining operations (the company began in Kosaka over 130 years ago mining Kuroko ore). The facility recovers indium, gold, silver, and antimony from polymetallic ores and electronic scrap. DOWA's Akita-based operations (Kosaka Smelting + Akita Zinc + Akita Eco Smelting) collectively make Akita Prefecture Japan's primary indium production center.
