ExxonMobil Baton Rouge Chemical Plant (PP Unit)
ExxonMobil's Baton Rouge LA chemical complex (second-largest ExxonMobil US chemical site after Baytown; ~3,000 employees) operates a polypropylene unit producing specialty PP grades including high-MFR grades for meltblown applications. The Baton Rouge PP unit uses Ziegler-Natta catalysis with peroxide visbreaking to achieve ultra-high MFR. The facility has deep integration with ExxonMobil's Baton Rouge refinery (one of the largest US refineries). Both Baytown and Baton Rouge are in the Gulf Coast petrochemical corridor — concentrated hurricane exposure. Source: ExxonMobil Baton Rouge chemical plant profile; ICIS PP market report 2024.
