Glencore's Murrin Murrin laterite nickel-cobalt operation near Leonora, Western Australia — one of the few non-Chinese, non-DRC cobalt sulfate production sources. Uses high-pressure acid leach (HPAL) technology on nickel laterite ore containing ~0.09% cobalt. Produces cobalt sulfate crystals for battery-grade use. Capacity: ~2,000-3,500 tonnes cobalt/year. Murrin Murrin cobalt sulfate is one of the few battery-grade sources available to US and European manufacturers without Chinese or Russian origin.
