Facility
Jordan Bromine Company — Ghour Al-Safi Plant
JBC's 26-hectare primary production facility at Ghour Al-Safi, 26.6 km northwest of Karak and 6 km north of Arab Potash Company's potash plant on the southern Jordanian Dead Sea shore. Extracts Dead Sea brine (Jordanian side) and produces: elemental bromine, TBBPA, calcium bromide, sodium bromide, and potassium hydroxide. Bromine-rich brine is drawn from the Dead Sea evaporation ponds that Arab Potash operates for potash extraction — the bromine recovery is effectively a co-product of the potash industry, similar to the ICL operation on the Israeli side. JBC also operates a 2-ha storage and export terminal at Aqaba Port (Jordan's Red Sea/Gulf of Aqaba port) for bulk liquid product shipment. Jordan produced ~105,450 t bromine in 2023.
