Rocky Mountain Steel / Orion Steel — Pueblo, Colorado Rail Mill
North America's largest rail mill; produces ~45% of all North American heavy railroad track. Steelmaking at this Pueblo site since 1881 — one of the oldest continuously operating steel mills in the US. World's first and largest solar-powered steel mill (300 MW Bighorn solar array, 1,800 acres, 750,000+ panels). Danieli premium rail mill; capacity 670,000 short tons/year. Produces 100-meter (328 ft) rails welded into quarter-mile strings — 80% fewer welds than old 80-ft rail. Sold from EVRAZ to Atlas Holdings (Orion Steel) in June 2025. Union Pacific signed new supply agreement April 2026.
