Uganda Fine Robusta Growing Region (Mt. Elgon / Rwenzori / Lake Victoria)
Uganda grows Robusta at unusually high elevations (900-1,500m) — the birthplace of wild Coffea canephora in the forests around Lake Victoria. Ugandan 'fine Robusta' (washed processing at elevation from Mt. Elgon and Rwenzori regions) has cup characteristics approaching washed Arabica — green tea notes, brightness, lower bitterness than lowland Robusta — and is attracting specialty coffee roasters for single-origin Robusta offerings.
